For the first seven calendar days of any illness, you can self-certify. You do not need a doctor’s note for this – your employer will provide you with an SC2 self-certificate form.
You only need a doctor’s note if you are unable to work and are ill for longer than seven calendar days.
At the end of the sickness period, the majority of people will not need a doctor’s letter to go back to work.
